How to improve the outcomes of tooth autotransplantation in adults using digital
technologies

Tooth autotransplantation (ATT) is a surgical-restorative treatment aimed to rehabilitate a missing tooth or replace a hopeless tooth immediately after its extraction by repositioning an autologous tooth into either the edentulous site or the fresh alveolar socket. This treatment concept for tooth replacement has shown successful clinical and radiographic outcomes, as well as high long-term survival and success rates. Autotransplantation, however, is not free from technical difficulties and long-term complications, being one of the most frequent inflammatory or replacement root resorption (RRR) that usually occurs in areas where the PDL was damaged during the extraction. To improve the feasibility of this therapeutic approach, and reduced complications, digital technologies have facilitated the surgical protocols by significantly reducing donor tooth’s extra oral time, minimising surgical trauma during the procedure, and, thus, preserving the integrity of PDL. In this lecture we shall present the detailed digital workflow for a successful autotransplantation and we shall present the one year data from a recently published clinical study
